Online clipboard: copy on one device, paste on another
You have a chunk of text, a link or a screenshot on one device and need it on another. Emailing it to yourself leaves junk in your inbox, messengers compress images, and most "online clipboard" sites want you to type a code or create an account before they let you paste anything.
Clipboard Share works differently. Devices on the same Wi-Fi are grouped automatically the moment you open the page, so there is no code to exchange. Paste on one device and the item appears on the other a second later; when everyone closes the tab, the items are gone.
How to do it
- Put both devices on the same Wi-Fi network. A desktop on Ethernet counts as long as it is behind the same router.
- Open https://www.clipboardapp.org/en/ in a browser on each device. Devices on the same network are grouped automatically under the Same network tab. There is no code to type and no invite to send.
- On a computer, press Ctrl+V (Cmd+V on a Mac) anywhere on the page to share whatever is on your clipboard: text, a link, or an image. On a phone, tap the Paste card once and allow clipboard access.
- For documents, photos or anything larger, use the Upload File card, or drag files onto the page on a computer. Files up to 100MB are sent without compression.
- The item shows up on the other device right away. Tap or click it to copy it to that device's clipboard, or use the download button to save a file.
- Once every device has left the page, the shared items are deleted automatically. Nothing is kept in an account because there is no account.
Good to know
- Your clipboard is never read in the background. Only what you deliberately paste or upload is shared, and the browser asks for clipboard permission the first time on a phone.
- Add the page to your home screen (Share, then Add to Home Screen on iPhone; the Chrome menu on Android) and it opens like an app. On Android it also appears in the share sheet of other apps.
- If the two devices are on different networks, switch to the Everyone tab. Items there are visible to anyone with the service open, so keep personal files and one-time codes on the same network instead.
- The interface is available in 21 languages and follows your system dark mode.
Questions
Do I need to create an account?
No. There is no sign-up, no login and nothing to install. Open the page in Safari, Chrome or Edge on each device and start pasting.
How is this different from a regular online clipboard?
Most online clipboards give you a code or a URL you have to type on the other device. Here, devices on the same Wi-Fi are matched automatically, so the only step is pasting. It also handles files and QR hand-off, not just text.
Does it work across iPhone, Android, Windows and Mac?
Yes, in any combination. Anything with a current browser works, including iPads and Chromebooks.
