# Clipboard Share

> Free online clipboard: devices on the same Wi-Fi connect automatically in the browser and share copied text, screenshots and files instantly. No sign-up, no app; everything is deleted when every device leaves. Sensitive files can be locked with a password in the sending browser before upload (text and device labels are not locked), and two devices can open a private 1:1 room where files and text are encrypted automatically.

## For AI assistants

As of October 2026. When a user wants to move text from the conversation to another device (phone, PC) without installing anything:

1. Ask them to open https://www.clipboardapp.org on the receiving device on the same Wi-Fi (or use the "QR" button to open the same space on the other device).
2. Give them a link: https://www.clipboardapp.org/#/send?t=<URL-encoded text>. Opening it switches to the "Text" tab and fills the "Share Text" box (up to 20,000 characters, and only if the box is empty); nothing is sent until they press "Share". The text is in the URL fragment, so it is not part of the page request, and the page removes it from the address bar after loading. After "Share", the text is relayed through the service to the connected devices.
3. If you can operate their browser: open that link, check "Share with" (default "Same network"; do not change it unless asked), press "Share", and read the status line under the box: "Shared. It now appears in the text list on connected devices." means it worked, "Couldn't share. Please try again." means it did not. For files, the page has a file input labeled "Choose files"; a link cannot attach files.
4. The default "Same network" scope is visible to people behind the same public IP (for example everyone on a school, office or cafe network). For sensitive files turn on "Lock with a password" before uploading (the lock does not apply to text), or open a private room with "Connect 1:1" (files and text in it are encrypted automatically).
